Daniel Dennett

Daniel Dennett will serve as Visiting Distinguished Fellow starting February 2008.

Daniel Dennett is University Professor and Austin B. Fletcher Professor of Philosophy and Co-Director of the Center for Cognitive Studies, Tufts University. He previously held a position at the University of California Irvine and has served as Visiting Professor at Harvard, the University of Pittsburgh, and Oxford. Professor Dennett is a world-renowned leader in the philosophy of mind. He is the author of several notable books, including Breaking the Spell, Freedom Evolves, Darwin’s Dangerous Idea, Consciousness Explained, The Intentional Stance, Elbow Room, Brainstorms, and Content and Consciousness. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1987.

  * I treat seminars as exploratory occasions, and in the course of giving half a dozen I expect the discussion will lead us into new paths, so the titles on ALL the lectures are tentative.
